Underbelly Boulevard will be a new live entertainment venue for music, cabaret, variety and comedy, comprising of a 200 capacity cabaret and music venue, a rehearsal room for hire, daytime hire for events, readings and workshops, a bar and a restaurant.

Underbelly is seeking to employ a highly motivated and experienced sales professional to play a pivotal role in driving the success of the corporate hire side of Underbelly’s new venue, Underbelly Boulevard.

As Event Sales Manager your primary focus will be on generating substantial revenue through corporate hire events across the venue’s private hire spaces which include the theatre, rehearsal room, restaurant and bar.

As the first point of contact for potential clients, you will provide excellent service while developing and executing each client’s vision from start to finish.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of converting sales within the events industry, experience in account management and a passion for first-class event delivery.

JOB PURPOSE

To drive venue hire and private event sales for the Boulevard’s auditorium, rehearsal space, restaurant and bars.

ROLE

Sales and Promotion

  • Researching potential hirers, including corporate events, performing arts academies, conference and event organisers, film, television and media companies.
  • Approaching potential hirers by telephone, email and face-to-face networking.
  • Ensuring that the hires page of the Boulevard website and other related online and print material are kept updated and relevant, liaising with the Marketing Manager.
  • Giving venue tours to potential hirers and answering their queries.
  • Ensuring all public-facing venue staff are aware of the venue’s capabilities and who to direct hires queries.

Account Management

  • Ensuring that all booking information and hire requirements are updated on our event management software.
  • Ensuring that all booking enquiries are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensuring that all bookings comply with Underbelly’s policies and procedures, including undertaking risk assessments.
  • Raising invoices in advance of the event and managing deposits and payments in conjunction with the Underbelly finance team.
  • Following up on provisional bookings are keeping standby hirers informed of booking status.

Events Management

  • Liaising with all relevant departments (production, front of house, food and beverage) in advance of the event to ensure additional hire requirements are met.
  • Carrying out a handover with venue team in advance of the event and ensuring that they are aware of all booking details.
  • Welcoming clients on the day of the event and introducing them to the venue team.
  • Following up with clients post-event to obtain feedback and promote repeat bookings.

Other Duties

  • Keeping up to date with developments in the corporate hires sector.
  • Attending regular company meetings.
  • Contributing to the development of the venue’s policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Previous experience of working in events sales and management.
  • Experience of working with a range of different client types including individuals, charities and commercial organisations.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, professional and self-motivated.
  • Strong communication skills and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to recognise potential health and safety issues before they arise.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent timekeeping skills.
  • Can do attitude.
