Edinburgh Fringe 2022- Duty Managers

Site Duty Managers – Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022

Fixed Term Contract: 18th July – 2nd September 2022

Underbelly are looking for Site Duty Managers to join our team at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022.

Job Purpose

Site Duty Managers, working in split shifts, are responsible for daily operations across all sites and are answerable to the Head of Production and Head of Operations. They are assisted at all times by our Front of House Supervisors, Box Office Supervisors, Bar Supervisors and Security Supervisors. They also work with a team of technicians that operate all shows within all venues. As the immediate line of support for any venue problems, strong technical and theatrical production experience and skills are desirable.

Day to day operations are the immediate responsibility of the Duty Managers, attending to issues and situations as they arise. This includes the maintenance and upkeep of the site, and any applicant should be happy to get their hands dirty as and when required, especially during busier periods of operation. Duties will also include maintaining high standards of both employee and public safety whilst complying with theatre licensing requirements.

Personal Specification

A proven site and/or venue management background is a requirement, with experience of multiple-venue and festival sites a definite advantage.

Good communication and motivational skills are required; operational hours of the festival necessitate that the Site Team work long and unsociable hours, on average shifts are 10 hours long. As such the ability to create a positive work atmosphere is essential. Applicants need to be calm under pressure, quick to solve problems, and comfortable with the unexpected.

A current Scottish Personal License is desirable but not required, although strong knowledge of alcohol supply legislation and operations are necessary. You will be responsible for instructing and monitoring security staff and guiding the door policy.

Duty Managers represent Underbelly to our clients both public and performance related, Edinburgh University and Edinburgh City Council officers as well as to other official inspectors and visitors. You should inspire confidence in those you deal with, be a convincing advocate for our interests and ensure that we deliver on our obligations.

Terms

Rate of pay is £140/day based on a 10hr day. You will work on a rota with other duty managers but should be available to work for the entire period.

Underbelly is committed to reducing its environmental impacts in its everyday operations. We are also committed to maintaining the open-access policy of Underbelly. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all sectors of the community. We expect employees to support these commitments and to assist in their realisation.

We regret that we will only be able to reply to shortlisted candidates.
