Job: Bar Manager – Underbelly Festival, Cavendish Square

Location: Central London, Oxford Circus

Salary: £26,000 to £28,600 pro rata DOE

Dates of Work: June – September


An exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading live entertainment and festival companies. Underbelly is creating and opening a brand-new venue in central London running from 1st July to the 26th September. The venue will consist of a Spiegeltent theatre, Bars and Food units.

Underbelly is a UK based live entertainment company, its festivals and events division produces a number of events annually, including Underbelly at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Underbelly Festival on London’s Southbank, Udderbelly Festival Hong Kong, Edinburgh’s Christmas and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council, Christmas in Leicester Square, and West End Live in Trafalgar Square on behalf of the Society of London Theatre and Westminster City Council.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Bar Manager to join our fun and enthusiastic company. In your role as Bar Manager you will be leading the bar management team to constantly deliver a professional and enjoyable environment for our customers. Duties will include:


  • Day to Day running of the bars
  • Daily reporting to the Underbelly’s Head of Bars
  • Set up of the bars for the festival and close down
  • Managing a group of up to 30 staff, and a management team of 3
  • Weekly Rota writing
  • Staff Training
  • Ensure all staff are happy and enthusiastic about work
  • Stock Control
  • Diary Management
  • Ensuring sponsors requirements are met




  • Experience in Bar Management is essential. Ideally within a festival environment
  • Must have an English and Wales Personal Alcohol License
  • People focused – both team members and guest
  • Important to be able to think on your feet and be highly comfortable problem solving
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure
  • An ability to work to deadlines, and plan and priorities short and long-term tasks effectively
  • Highly strong personal skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, can lead and motivate staff
  • Strong understanding of GP and cost control
  • A good understanding of computer Literacy including the use of Mac’s, Word and Excel
  • Basic understanding of H&S requirements and Environmental health Requirements
  • Although no specific qualifications are required the applicant must be able to demonstrate a good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Tact, patience and diplomacy, in addition to infectious enthusiasm
